Dr Mariangela Allegrini,
a lifetime of speech therapy.
A speech therapist since 2010, with a practice in Via Dalmazia in Viterbo since 2020. Two degrees with honours from La Sapienza, former lecturer at the University of Foggia, and bilingual training in San Francisco.
I come from Lucera. My mother is a retired speech therapist. I would leave school and find myself in her consulting room. I watched her work. I watched children grow and learn to express themselves better. Some of the materials I still use today began there.
Viterbo is my father's city. I have lived here for almost twenty years. Whenever I can, I slip away to Lake Bolsena, between Marta and Capodimonte. I walk for miles, music in my ears, the odd phone call. That long, unhurried pace is the same one I bring into the practice.
I have practised since 2011. I began with clinical work in rehabilitation centres affiliated with the public health service, then in 2013 I opened my own private practice. In 2020 I moved: today I am in Via Dalmazia, where I still work.
- Two degrees with honours Bachelor's in Speech Therapy (2010) and Master's in Rehabilitation Sciences (2016), La Sapienza, Rome.

The milestones of a journey twenty years in the making
From my childhood in my mother's consulting room to the practice in Viterbo.
Eight milestones, a journey that continues.
- Origins
Lucera, my mother's consulting room
Puglia
I would leave school and find myself in her consulting room. I watched her work, watched children grow and learn to express themselves better. Some of my materials began right there.
- 2006
Diploma in social, psychological and educational studies
Lucera, 100/100
I finished the social-psychological-educational secondary school with top marks. The direction was already set: to work with children, with the voice, with language.
- 2010
Degree in Speech Therapy, with honours
La Sapienza, Rome
Bachelor's degree in Speech Therapy at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, La Sapienza. 110/110 with honours. Pilot thesis on the Proel method applied to adolescents who stammer.
- 2011
Adjunct lecturer, University of Foggia
Degree course in Speech Therapy
Teaching within the integrated course in Applied Medical Sciences. A year behind the lectern that taught me to explain language before practising it.
- 2012
EC International School, San Francisco
California, Upper Intermediate
Months of full English immersion. Lessons in the morning, music class and role play in the afternoon. That is where my bilingual IT-EN practice began, along with the motivational approach that today supports the children of Italian-English families across the Tuscia.
- 2016
Master's degree, with honours
La Sapienza, Rehabilitation Sciences
Master's degree in Rehabilitation Sciences of the Healthcare Professions, La Sapienza. 110/110 with honours. Pilot study on the GRADE method applied to the scientific meta-analysis of dyslexia.
- 2019-20
Professional register and practice in Viterbo
Via Dalmazia 34-36
In 2019 I registered with the TSRM-PSTRP professional register, Viterbo Board. In 2020 I opened the practice in Via Dalmazia, just outside the city walls, a stone's throw from the schools, with free parking. The network with child neuropsychiatrists, orthodontists, paediatricians and an orthoptist across the Tuscia began here.
- 2026
Lazio Region authorisation
Protocol E.0244623.05-03-2026
Regional authorisation to practise speech therapy. Sixteen years after graduating, the official framework for the work I was already doing every day.
My practice
in Via Dalmazia.
Just outside the walls of Viterbo since 2020, in a well-served area: a short walk from the Ellera Comprehensive School, the Scuola della Quercia, the Santa Maria del Paradiso independent school and the International School Viterbo. Easy parking.
Four pillars that hold a journey together.
They come back with every child, with every family. Their weight and order shift: sometimes it is play that leads the way, sometimes motivation, sometimes a tool discovered at just the right moment. But they are always there.
Next step
A first meeting, to begin.
You've read my story. If you'd like to find out whether I might be the right speech therapist for you or for your child, get in touch and we'll arrange a first appointment.
